Top 10 Photos From 2016

Here are some of our favorite shots taken in 2016 during our first trip around the world. From the bamboo jungles of Japan to the pristine lakes of New Zealand we saw some amazing sights.

Kyoto bamboo forest
Looking up at the swaying treetops in Kyoto’s bamboo forest. Located in Arashiyama district, it is only a 30 minute train ride from Kyoto station.
Fushimi Inari Shrine
Fushimi Inari Shrine is dedicated to Inari, the god of rice in Kyoto. Thousands of visitors walk through the many torii gates and the path is usually very crowded. After a 30 minute wait we were finally able to get this shot.
Southgate pedestrian bridge in Melbourne
Workers cross the Southgate pedestrian bridge in Melbourne which passes over the Yarra river. The entire CBD area is very pedestrian friendly.
Lake Pukaki New Zealand
As the sun set over Lake Pukaki in New Zealand, Pam walks out to the water’s edge to get a closer look. The stillness of the water creates a beautiful mirror effect of the mountains in the distance.
Blenheim Wairau River
A dog plays in the water while its owner fishes nearby. Located near Blenheim where the Wairau River meets Cloudy Bay. The freedom camp nearby is one of the few with free WiFi.
Sunrise at a marina in Wellington, New Zealand. Woke up very early to capture this moment.
New Zealand Sheep
Sheep graze all over New Zealand. In a 2007 report there were 10 sheep counted for each individual living in the country. We couldn’t get enough of the adorable lambs that were only a couple months old. Lambs are surprisingly a lot like dogs, tail wagging and all.
New Zealand ferry ride
In New Zealand, the only way to travel between islands with a campervan is by ferry. The ride took approximately 3 hours. You an catch a glimpse of seals and dolphins in the water if you are patient.
Lake Taupo New Zealand
Lake Taupo is the largest lake in New Zealand. This dog approached us slowly after chasing off all the ducks. We freedom camped in the parking lot nearby and it was walking distance to the many shops in the area.
Machu Picchu llama photobomb
If you search “machu picchu llama photobomb” it returns hundreds of photos, this is our attempt. She was quite the model.
Death Valley National Park
Bonus multi-image panorama taken in Death Valley National Park. The views and varying landscapes exceeded our expectations.

Which one is your favorite?
